“The Leap Inn is an imposing hospitality landmark, dominating the streetscape of pretty little Leap.
Built in 1832, its very size indicates it was built with the intention of providing hospitality. Having retained its historic fabric, this West Cork institution is looking more and more like a design classic, reminiscent of the era when the country pub in Ireland was the centre of the community. The handsome wooden bar is the most imposing feature of the dining room, with red floral banquettes against each wall, bent-wood chairs, and standard lamps with fringed shades. A table for six might be set with jugs of orange squash. If you order water, it comes iced, in pint glasses. A plate of chips will have a few scoops of mash on the side, and the toasted sandwich is what many people enjoy when they stop here for lunch. Everything is pristine, and the welcome is sincere. The flower-decked building is also in the perfect spot to explore West Cork, with many beaches nearby, and, best of all, Connolly’s of Leap music venue opposite. Many punters visiting the late night venue opt to stay here, and enjoy a generous breakfast before setting back on their way.”
